Adventure Gospel is a 3-act opera based on the tale of Oscar White, a man who lived in woodsy isolation for 27 years, surviving by stealing food, clothing, supplies, etc. from the local community of Hicoulby, Iowa. However, after he is caught, the story is so bizarre and unprecedented that the village is torn on how to handle him. In comes young upstart web journalist Rosario Davez, on the case to interview the man and various affected community members, while the courts decide what to do with the Hicoulby Hermit.

The work explores themes of isolation and deconstruction; the concept of a man running away from his life, longing to be separated from every good gift, yet still dependent on others by way of their material things. In the end, he and we, the audience, are faced with a choice: to either embrace the "Adventure Gospel" and isolate to our ruin, or submit to the true Gospel and find belonging.
